What to do if your vehicle gets impounded by a Deputy

IMPOUND LOT INFORMATION

  The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office impound lot only contains vehicles that was impounded by The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Please remember, other Law Enforcement Agencies have their own impound lots, or turn impound matters over to tow services for release.

IMPOUND AND STORAGE FEES

Tow fees will be $100.00 and storage will be $17.00 per day starting the day the vehicle entered the impound lot. However, tow fees may be increased if the tow requires above normal towing situations.

TO CLAIM AN IMPOUNDED VEHICLE

  • If the vehicle has been seized for an OVI or DUI, you must provide an Order from the Judge assigned to the case that the vehicle may be released.
  • You must provide proof of ownership, such as a valid identification as the owner, pay impound and storage fees prior to the vehicle release.
  • Vehicles that have expired plates or no registration must have a valid plate and valid registration prior to being released.
  • If the vehicle has been contaminated by any source deemed a safety hazard, you will be required to sign a form that releases The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office from any liability.

PAYMENTS

Payments must be paid at The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office 350 Portsmouth St, Suite 102 Jackson, Ohio 45640.

FAILURE TO CLAIM

  Failure to claim any vehicle may become subject to being deemed unclaimed after proper steps are taken, in accordance to The Ohio Revised Code.

HOURS

Monday-Friday between 08:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Holiday's excluded. 

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office accepts cash and credit/debit cards with an additional banking fee.

IMPOUND VEHICLE AUCTION

From time to time, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office will hold an impound vehicle auction . These auctions will take place when vehicles are available.


As of 03/21/24, no auction date has been set.
